Dear César Chávez Families,
Welcome to the 2018-2019 school year! We are very excited to start a new year with each of you! In the year to come, we look forward to working collaboratively with students, families and staff to ensure that César Chávez continues to be a welcoming community of learners striving for excellence.
Our focus this year is for our entire César Chávez community to become Champions of Learning. We want students, parents, community members, teachers, and staff to have confidence in their abilities to help make César Chávez a place of discovery, inquiry, and self-directed learning. It's all about adopting a growth mindset (the power of yet), meaning that it is always possible to learn, even if we struggle with subjects that are difficult for us.
We want our César Chávez community to come together as one to support each other in taking risks because often the most important lessons learned come from failure. We want our community to embody the champion spirit of perseverance and never giving up.
Our staff is eager to work with each of your families this year to ensure that students are challenged academically, exposed to multicultural experiences, and engaged with technologically advanced tools for learning.
Your involvement in your student's education, however, is THE MOST important factor. We encourage you to be an active member of our school community! There are many ways to be involved. Check our website calendar, follow us on social media, and look for event flyers, emails, and text messages!
Please don't hesitate to call, email, or stop by with any questions, comments, or feedback.
Mr. Edmundo D. Barker
